Monday Beginner Swing Dance Class

In the Beginner Swing Dance Class you will learn the classic steps of lindy hop and charleston and how to have fun with your partner and the music.

In April we will learn 30's charleston variations including tandem, hand to hand, airplane and more.

The ticket price also includes a social dance starting at 9:30pm. So if you can why not stay after class to practice what you've learned and get to know your classmates and teachers.

PRICE:

•  Monday night classes are €10 each.

•  If you are attending 2 classes on the same night use code 2CLASSES at check out for each class for a €4  discount.

•  If you are attending 3 classes on the same night use code 3CLASSES at check out for each class for an €8 discount.

If you can't make it and you let us know at least 24 hours before the event starts we will issue a refund. The 10% booking fee is non-refundable.

WHAT TO BRING:

•  Water bottle.

•  Comfortable footwear.

WHAT HAPPENS AT SOCIALS:

•  Ask anyone and everyone to dance. All experience levels very welcome. It's exciting to get  to dance with different people each night. If someone is tired or chatting with a long lost friend they might say "no thanks" but most of the time if you ask the answer will be an enthusiastic "yes please".

•  Classic routines. There are a number of dance routines such as the Shim-Sham, Tranky Do, Big Apple, Stew that were choreographed by some of the original dancers. Many people who are dancing for a while know these fun routines. Feel free to join in if you know the moves or just have fun trying to copy what the person next to you is doing.

•  Jams and dance battles. These are a key part of the origins and culture of swing dancing and swing music. It's a way for community members to share moves, rhythms, inspiration, energy and to show support for one another. So if you see a circle forming on the dance floor get closer and join in.

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING:

•  Fáilte Swing @ Dublin Studio EVERY MONDAY with intermediate swing dance class @ 7pm, open solo jazz class @ 7:50pm, beginner swing dance class @ 8:40pm. All classes are drop in. The social dance starts at 9:30pm.

•  Fáilte Hot Club @ Leinster Cricket Club MONTHLY live jazz band party with drop in beginner swing dance class, social dancing, and dance performances ancommunity performances. Dates for 2024 are: Apr 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug 10, Oct 26 and Nov 23.

•  Fáilte Swing ANNUAL FESTIVAL is back in 2024 with the amazing María & Aurélien teaching, best live bands, best venues, performances, competitions and more Sept 13-15.
